Proclaim the Lord's Death

Online images

Dear Faith Family,

… Do this in remembrance of Me…. For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes, (1 Corinthians 11:25-26).

The Lord’s Supper affords us, His bride, the privilege to remember all that Jesus has done for us.  It also affords us the privilege to commune, as His bride, together with Him.  And, it affords us the privilege to proclaim His death, His reception of the wrath of God on our behalf.  So, there is a sense in which The Lord’s Supper is declarative.

Although Faith Church will not meet together physically until further notice, we will continue to provide online opportunities for connecting to God, the body, and others.

One such opportunity will be provided for you on Resurrection Day, April 12.  On that day we will attempt to host our worship service online.  During that service we plan to celebrate The Lord’s Supper together.  We will prepare together and participate together online.  We are not encouraging private communion.  Our intent is to honor our Christ together.  What that means is that each family unit planning to participate with us live online will be responsible for gathering the elements for participating in The Lord’s Supper.  If you need someone to pick up the elements for you and your family, please let us know.  Someone will be happy to pick those up for you.  It also means that you will need to log in online.  You will receive an email giving you the information necessary for you to log in.  If you have problems with logging in, again, please let us know so that we can help you with that.  More details regarding the service will be coming.

Another opportunity is for you to pray.  As you walk through these unprecedented times, would you consider praying for those who do not yet know Jesus?  Pray for them by name.  There are a couple of tools that can guide you through times of prayer.  One tool is “30 Days of Prayer”.  Check it out at https://byfaithonline.com/pca-invites-members-to-join-30-days-of-prayer/.  Another tool is the opportunity for a “Day of Prayer and Fasting”.  Check it out at https://byfaithonline.com/a-call-for-a-day-of-prayer-and-fasting-good-friday-april-10-2020/

Keep in mind that The Lord’s Supper provides us the privilege of remembering what Jesus did, the privilege of communing together with Him, and the privilege of letting others hear the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!  Let’s pray for the opportunities, the ability to recognize the opportunities, the courage and wisdom to seize the opportunities, and the work of the Holy Spirit to change the lives of those who hear the good news!

In His love,
Pastor Karl
