Don't Forget

dont forget

dont forget

Dear Faith Family,

He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen.  Come, Lord Jesus! (Romans 10:1).

Sitting at my desk, I’m looking at a cup that I meant to take home from the office on Monday.  Tuesday morning it was still here at the office greeting me with a smile.  You forgot!  So, yesterday I moved it from the desk to the floor where I would be sure to see it when I went home last night.  You guessed it.  It once again greeted me with a smile and an almost gentle, you forgot!

How quickly we move from one thing to another.  Out of sight.  Out of mind.  And, life goes on.  Amazing how we can be so busy, even now.  Do you ever find yourself so busy with some things that you overlook other things?  Even important things?

Maybe the current circumstances have captured our attention.  Social media is beginning to look like a war zone.  How easy is it to be sucked down the cesspool whirlpool of “knowledge”?  I guess what I’m trying to say is: “I forget.”

Forget what?

I forget sometimes that Jesus is coming back.  Our Savior is going to return in victory!  Jesus isn’t coming back to finish the job.  No, He’s already finished.  He’s coming back to claim His and to celebrate His Lordship!  What is finished will be realized!

Maybe what I really need to be saying is: “I remember.”  I remember that Jesus is coming back.  Think about the ramifications of Jesus’ return.  All our “stuff” (you know the things that break down, the things that might frustrate us, the things that wear out, and even the things that are useful today) will be history.  Insert “hallelujah” here.  On the other hand, some of the concerns that might have escaped our minds will suddenly come into focus.  Like the lives of the people around us.

Encourage one another.  Jesus is coming back.  Remind each other that the struggles, the battles, the temptations, even the failures of this life are temporary.  Press on.  Stay steadfast.  And for the people that don’t know Jesus.  Keep in mind that Jesus is coming back.  Tell them about your Jesus.  Tell them that fear no longer rules in your life because Jesus rules.

With a string tied around my finger,
Pastor Karl
